Role Description

The Concrete Finisher will work on-site across the UK in a full-time capacity, supporting a variety of construction and civils projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and setting up concrete forms
  • Placing, screeding, and finishing concrete surfaces
  • Ensuring correct levels, slopes, and textures for slabs, foundations, and other structures
  • Using hand tools and power tools
  • Assisting with the installation and removal of formwork
  • Coordinating with site supervisors and other trades to complete tasks safely and efficiently

The role also involves inspecting completed work for quality, following site safety procedures, and helping maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications

  • Practical experience with concrete flatwork, including placing, screeding, floating, and finishing
  • Knowledge of formwork systems and basic carpentry skills for building and stripping forms
  • Ability to safely operate relevant power tools and use heavy equipment associated with concrete work, as appropriate
  • Understanding of construction site safety practices and willingness to follow company health and safety policies
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to read basic site drawings, and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship
  • Reliable timekeeping, ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and capability to perform physically demanding tasks
  • Prior experience as a Concrete Finisher or in a similar construction role; industry-recognized training or certifications are an advantage
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport to Gurney Slade are beneficial
