Concrete Plant Apprentice

Build Your Career from the Ground Up with Heidelberg Materials

Are you practical, hands-on, and eager to learn a skilled trade that offers long-term career opportunities? At Heidelberg Materials, we're looking for a motivated Concrete Plant Apprentice to join our team and gain industry-recognised qualifications while earning and learning.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to become a key part of a busy concrete production operation. Through a structured apprenticeship programme and day-release college attendance, you'll gain hands-on experience in site operations, concrete manufacturing, plant maintenance, health and safety, environmental management, and quality control.

What You'll Be Doing

Phase 1: Learning the Fundamentals of Site Operations

You'll develop a strong understanding of how a modern concrete plant operates, including:

  • Understanding site layout, storage areas, drainage systems, traffic management, and safe working practices.
  • Operating a wheeled loading shovel to transport and load materials into the plant.
  • Carrying out routine housekeeping duties to keep the site safe, clean, and organised.
  • Assisting with plant maintenance and inspections.
  • Supporting the safe and efficient running of the site in line with Health & Safety and environmental legislation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
