Role Description

The Concrete & Screed Laboratory Technician will support the testing and quality control of Cemfloor and related concrete products in a laboratory environment.

Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Preparing material samples
  • Performing standard tests on concrete and screed mixes
  • Recording results accurately
  • Assisting in maintaining testing equipment and lab cleanliness

The role involves working closely with senior technicians and production teams to ensure products meet relevant standards and internal quality requirements. This is a full-time, on-site position based in the Royston, UK with training provided and opportunities to develop practical skills in construction materials testing.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess skills related to concrete applications, such as Ready Mix Concrete and Flatwork.
  • Candidates should possess skills connected to construction and structural preparation.
  • Candidates should be skilled in operating or working around Heavy Equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Basic numeracy and aptitude for measurements, data recording, and interpreting test results.
  • Willingness to learn, follow technical guidance, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to handle materials, stand for extended periods, and work in a production and lab setting.
  • Relevant vocational or technical education in construction, engineering, or materials science is beneficial but not essential.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in concrete, screed, aggregates, asphalt, or construction materials.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory, batching, quality, or production role.
  • Understanding of material testing and quality control procedures.
  • Forklift licence desirable but not essential.

Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
