The Opportunity:
There is the opportunity for a Conference Producer to join Clarion Defence & Security, who are a leading global defence conference and exhibition organiser. The individual will be working across the portfolio on a range of events, producing both strategic and technical level conferences.
As a Conference Producer, you’ll be responsible for developing world-class conference programmes, and engagement series across a portfolio of internationally recognised events, including DSEI, ITEC and UDT.
The individual will be responsible for researching, coordinating and delivering high-quality content programmes that complement and drive attendance across our portfolio of events.
Reporting to the Head of Content – Confexes the successful candidate will:
- Own a project plan for the creation and delivery of each program, executing the plan to strict deadlines
- Research and develop compelling content for a range of Clarion products: UDT, ITEC and DSEI UK
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to build value and credibility for new and existing brands
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to strengthen brand awareness within the team and ensure content is centred at all we deliver.
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience in event production with a research-based degree (or equivalent experience) who is interested in the Defence industry or has a passion for conference production.
Key Responsibilities:
Program creation
- Develop content strategies using customer insights, needs and behaviours
- Produce high-quality, research-based conference agendas and event formats which meet the needs of different audience segments
- Identify, secure and manage high-profile international speakers from across Military, Government and Industry
- Researching competitor events and identifying their strengths and weaknesses
- Structuring conference programs to enhance interaction and sharing between attendees, including creating innovative formats for networking and engagement
- Communicating clearly and professionally with all stakeholders across the program lifecycle including committees and sponsors.
- Be commercially minded, partnering with the sales team to identify sponsorship opportunities, support client meetings and ensure customer success.
- Manage event timelines, analyse event data and feedback
- Working across multiple media types including one day conferences, roundtables and webinars to deliver events via our DSEI Gateway platform.

Content and thought leadership
- Creating compelling copy for the website and content marketing
- Working with marketing to produce content pieces to be used for promotions
- Identifying and engaging key stakeholders to support the event’s content and marketing
- Preparing detailed briefs for speakers, moderators and on-site suppliers
Onsite
- Acting as theatre manager onsite to deliver stakeholder satisfaction
- Liaising with AV technicians to ensure programs run smoothly
- Welcoming Keynotes, moderators and speakers to the event
- Maintaining a dialogue onsite with your moderators
- Managing any additional coordinators onsite for the efficient running of the program
- Ensuring on-site branding and signage is appropriate and consistent
Post event
- Noting feedback and making appropriate updates to procedures or event delivery
- Preparing a post event report and analysis of the performance of the conference, including ways to enhance the agenda and overall running of the event in the future for greater customer value and satisfaction
Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours:
- Proven experience producing commercially successful B2B conferences.
- Experience in researching new markets, and delivering top-level research reports and agendas to tight deadlines
- Excellent communicator, aware of and sensitive to protocols appropriate for their audience
- Creative and intellectually curious
- The ability to rapidly develop competent knowledge of diverse topics, break down complex concepts, and identify underlying connections
