Job Description:
Salary: £38,000 to £42,000
Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.

Our Radar and Advanced Targeting (RATs) Design Integrity function are seeking a Configuration Engineer to join their Configuration team. Our Configuration specialists play an integral role in insuring that configuration is embedded into the engineering life cycles of all our products ensuring that all products meet the relevant governance, regulations and legislation. As a Configuration Engineer, you will learn and develop Configuration skills and knowledge for use in the full product lifecycle: from requirements analysis; through design, procurement and manufacturing; to delivery to the customer and onwards into in-service support.
Please note that this role is working on a hybrid basis from our Edinburgh site.
Your duties will include:
- Working closely with supportive, talented and innovative engineers from a range of disciplines, providing them with Configuration Management support and advising them on Configuration best practice.
- You will be trained to operate in the Configuration Engineer role which will include both Documentation and Hardware.
Documentation:
- Review and verify documentation is suitable for progressing based on the set guidelines.
- Manage the approval process of new documentation, as well as overseeing the processing of updates to existing documentation.
- Record, distribute and control the documentation received from internal/external parties.
Hardware:
- Managing the processing of Problem Reports and Change Requests from initiation to final disposition.
- Overseeing Trials Modifications to support Problem Report investigations and ensuring results of trials are captured.
- Collating the Change Impact assessments from the Technical Review Boards (TRB).
- Supporting the Change Initiator and Technical Review Board (TRB) through consultation and determining if fast track criteria is met and route Change using the Fast-Track workflow.
- Preparing agenda, calling and chairing the CRB (Configuration Review Boards).
- Arranging the Point of Embodiment (POE) changes for implementation and deciding the Change Classification based on a set criteria.
- Implement, Planning and Co-ordination into both the design and physical products.

What you’ll bring:
- Ideally experience in a Configuration Engineering.
- Experience in a manufacturing engineering background.
- Good technical knowledge.
- Thorough literacy and numeracy skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Experience of working with compliance procedures.
