Step into a vital leadership role at Airbus Belfast as a Configuration Specialist, serving as the cross-functional linchpin for our A220 Wing Configuration Management team. In this highly impactful position, you will take ownership of a core Configuration Management pillar—driving engineering change control, integrating advanced tools like SAP, and mentoring a dedicated team to safeguard critical aircraft delivery schedules. This is an exciting opportunity to champion continuous improvement, partner with key stakeholders, and shape the engineering lifecycle of world-class aircraft on a global stage
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM
- Manage a CM pillar:
- Engineering Change Process
- Configuration Management/Nomenclature
- Securing stakeholder alignment and approvals and acting as the Lever focal point for A220 Program CM integration within your discipline.
- Support and on occasion stand in for the CM manager to address priority meetings & Tasks.
- Develop team members through knowledge sharing and removal of single point of failure.
- Identify and manage team priorities to ensure there is no risk to aircraft delivery schedules.
- Partner closely with the CM Manager, Program and manufacturing teams to achieve deadlines.
- Anticipate challenges and communicate risks / opportunities transparently to Stakeholders.
- Implement effective corrective action and preventative measures.
- Check and approve deliverables generated by your discipline for Wing level and Tier 1 suppliers.
- Development and rollout of procedures to the wider business relating to CM activities relevant to the program needs.
- Champion best practice, lessons learned on a continuous improvement basis.
- Rollout and integration of advanced tools like SAP into the operations environment.
- Develop team members through their career by providing opportunities and mentoring.
ABOUT YOU
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that sufficient detail is provided to demonstrate how they meet essential job criteria, as this alone will be used for vetting purposes.
Essential
- Be degree qualified (BSc/BEng) and have at least 3 years’ relevant Engineering experience OR Have a HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline and have at least 5 years’ relevant Engineering experience.
- Be able to demonstrate experience in dealing with senior management, customers, suppliers and Regulatory Authorities.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to manage, motivate and advise a team working on specialist engineering issues and the ability to motivate staff in an environment of change.
- Project Management experience and a proven track record of successfully delivering departmental solutions.

Desirable
- CM Expertise: Strong end-to-end understanding and full lifecycle experience of Technical and Engineering Change Management processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to provide clarity and present to cross functional multi-level audiences.
- Toolset Knowledge (Preferred – Training Provided): Familiarity with aerospace toolsets such as:
- Catia/Enovia,
- Optegra/ PDM,
- MAXIM, CAPP (or other ERP systems)
- SAP (S4/HANA).
- Project Management tools (Microsoft Project, Access, Planisware etc…)
- Opentext
