Overview
We are seeking an experienced Conflict Management, Personal Safety and Communications Trainer to work with our team on a temporary consulting basis.
The role involves supporting the design of digital training simulations for frontline railway professionals. These will focus on de-escalating challenging situations, communicating clearly under pressure, using safety-critical communication techniques, and delivering effective passenger announcements.
What you’ll do as an SME
- Draft relevant content and training guides, drawing on your knowledge, experience, and industry best practice.
- Develop realistic scenarios covering conflict management, personal safety, safety-critical communication, and passenger announcements.
- Define what good performance looks like, including learner evaluation criteria and common mistakes.
- Provide practical guidance on repeat-back, clear communication, and maintaining accuracy in high-pressure situations.
- Review scripts, learner responses, and digital training materials for accuracy and realism.
- Act as a subject matter expert, helping our team design effective digital learning experiences.

Essential requirements
- Recent and extensive experience designing or delivering conflict management and personal safety training.
- Practical knowledge of safety-critical communication and clear communication under pressure.
- Experience within the railway sector, including station, onboard, operational, or customer-facing environments.
- Knowledge of effective passenger announcement principles.
- Recognised qualification in education, training, or an equivalent area.
- Willing and able to write detailed training guides and realistic scenarios from scratch.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365.
