The Role: Conflicts of Interest Senior Risk & Controls Analyst
9 Month Fixed Term Contract
This role provides a unique opportunity to lead a strategic review of the Conflicts of Interest (COI) policy, framework and operating model across Life and PAC.
The successful candidate will analyse existing policy requirements, controls, training material and execution approach to recommend and help implement a sustainable and effective approach to the ongoing management, assessment and reporting of Conflicts of Interest.
The role will combine policy analysis, risk management and stakeholder engagement to establish a clear model that ensures regulatory compliance whilst supporting effective management of conflicts across the business. The work will support Life and PAC’s in identifying, assessing, managing and reporting Conflicts of Interest and maintain effective controls and governance arrangements.
Key Accountabilities
Strategic Review and Gap Analysis
- Conduct a comprehensive review of the current Conflicts of Interest Policy and supporting framework
- Review and assess existing processes including:
- Policy management
- Conflict identification and assessment
- Register management
- Reporting and governance
- Training and awareness
- Assurance and control effectiveness reviews
- Assess end-to-end COI processes, controls, reporting requirements and accountabilities.
- Identify duplication, inefficiencies, control gaps and opportunities to simplify the framework.
- Evaluate existing resource requirements and ownership responsibilities across Life and PAC stakeholders.
- Engage with stakeholders across Life, PAC and wider PLC support functions where relevant
- Support workshops and working groups to gather requirements and build consensus.
- Support governance forums through preparation of relevant data for inclusion in papers.
- Assess Conflicts registers, reporting outputs and assessment methodologies.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing review and attestation processes

Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong risk management, compliance or conflicts of interest background.
- Experience interpreting policies and translating requirements into practical business processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Experience conducting policy reviews and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and influence audiences.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Experience providing data for executive-level papers and recommendations.
Desirable
- Experience of regulatory compliance, conduct risk or conflicts of interest frameworks.
- Knowledge of FCA handbook.
- Understanding of policy frameworks and risk management frameworks.
