Conflicts Specialist
A prestigious international law firm is seeking a Conflicts Specialist to join their Conflicts Team Support in London. This permanent, full-time position offers the opportunity to work at the heart of a global network, supporting legal professionals across multiple regions and contributing to the firm's risk management procedures.
What you'll do
- Manage conflict checks on every new matter globally by analysing information sources and consulting with colleagues to resolve both legal and commercial conflicts of interest.
- Apply US rules meticulously to identify potential conflicts of interest in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Draft conflict waivers that comply with US conflict rules, ensuring clarity and accuracy in all documentation.
- Consult with Conflicts Analysts and foreign-qualified lawyers on complex legal and ethical questions under US law, serving as an escalation point for challenging clearances.
- Review new client and matter opportunities through thorough analysis of internal and external data sources, advising partners globally on conflicts and information barrier management.
- Identify wider risks including reputational concerns, sanctions issues, financial crime risks, and commercial conflict matters through comprehensive Matter Risk Assessment.
- Advise partners and lawyers regarding conflict check results, processes, policies, and best practices for managing sensitive information.
- Liaise regularly with the Financial Crime team to ensure robust risk assessment procedures are followed for every matter inception.

- 5+ Years' experience in conflicts of interest within a law firm
- Understanding of US conflicts rules and their application within a global context.
- Comprehensive understanding of the legal regime governing conflicts of interest and confidential information handling.
- Exceptional research skills enabling you to analyse complex data from multiple sources efficiently.
- Excellent commercial awareness allowing you to assess risks beyond purely legal considerations
