Role Description
The Commercial Manager is a full-time, mixture of working at our Runcorn office and a on-site role based in London, responsible for overseeing the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects. Day-to-day tasks include managing budgets and cost plans, preparing and reviewing tenders, negotiating contracts and subcontracts, and monitoring project financial performance. The role involves overseeing valuations, payment applications, variations, and claims to ensure accurate and timely commercial reporting. The Commercial Manager will collaborate with project managers, site teams, and senior leadership to mitigate risk, secure profitable outcomes, and maintain compliance with company policies and industry standards. The position also includes building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and consultants while contributing to the development of commercial processes and best practices.

Qualifications

- Strong commercial management experience in construction, including cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in contract administration and negotiation, ideally with experience of standard forms of contract (e.g., JCT, ).
- Ability to analyze project data, prepare tenders, and support bid submissions with accurate commercial input.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Solid understanding of construction processes, supply chain management, and risk management practices.
- Competence with relevant software tools (e.g., MS Excel, cost management systems) and strong numerical skills.
- Proven ability to work on-site in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field; professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is an advantage.
- Commitment to ethical conduct, health and safety standards, and continuous professional development.
