What Connectea is?
Connectea is a small startup in England. We employ Companions who deliver companionship services to families or individuals through our platform: connectea.com
What we need?
We are looking for a Start up Launch Lead. Ideally, you are someone based in a local community with existing social connections. You will join us for a fixed period 8-weeks (with a high likelihood of extension) and for a fixed lump sum of £1K. Your role is to deliver a successful launch of our start up - Connectea - in your local community. In addition to the £1K fixed lump sum, you have the option to register as a Companion in our platform and earn an additional £20/hr.
What you will actually do?
We will start by giving you a short introductory training of our platform.
You will then join Connectea as our Start Up Lead with the role of companion as an optional add-on.
Weeks 1–2 — Recruit
- You will talk to families and friends in your neighbourhood and your community about Connectea and offer them Companionship service.
- You will register 5-10 families or individuals in our platform and help them book the time with a Companion (which can also be yourself).
- In parallel, you will find 10-15 companions through your friends and networks and register them to our platform as Companions, help them complete their training, and DBS checks. Once completed, they will become employees of Connectea.
- During the launch all Companions will be paid £20/hr by Connectea. Service will be free for the clients.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Weeks 3–6 Run the introductions
- Match each family with a companion based on location and basic fit.
- Facilitate the first introduction for each pair - be present or available, not just sending an email.
- Ensure the Three-Way Introduction protocol is followed for every first visit (a trusted third person present - we will explain this fully).
Throughout - Weekly progress update
- Send a short update to the founder each week: who you have recruited, how introductions are going, anything unexpected, any support you need.
Weeks 6–8 - Collect feedback and close out
- Check in with each family and companion after their first 1–2 visits.
- Run a short structured conversation using questions we provide - what felt right, what felt uncomfortable, what they would change.
- Write a short plain-language summary of what you found.
What we are looking for in you?
- You have worked in community development, social prescribing, voluntary sector coordination, or a similar role — you have genuine existing relationships in at least one London borough.
- You are comfortable approaching and talking with older or isolated people and their families. This is not a desk job.
- You are practical and self-directed — you do not need close supervision.
- You believe the idea is worth trying. We are not asking for cheerleading, but a degree of genuine interest matters.

Longer term: If the pilot goes well and the relationship works, there is a high likelihood to continue in a more permanent role as Connectea grows.
