Role Description
As a Connection Coach, you will support people in York to build healthy relationships, community links, and sustainable support networks. In this full-time, on-site role, you will meet regularly with participants, listen to their needs, and help them identify personal goals related to connection, recovery, and social inclusion. You will facilitate one-to-one sessions and small group activities, signpost and accompany individuals to local services, and help them engage with education, training, volunteering, or employment opportunities. The role includes maintaining accurate records, working collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies, and contributing to service development based on participant feedback. You will promote a non-judgmental, motivational environment that encourages trust, safety, and long-term change.

- Ability to build trusting, person-centered relationships, including strong interpersonal skills, active listening, and empathy.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, support work, or similar roles in community, criminal justice, health, or social care settings.
- Skills in assessing needs, setting goals, and developing action plans that support social connection, recovery, and personal development.
- Confident communication skills, including clear verbal communication, accurate record-keeping, and basic IT proficiency for case management.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners, while maintaining professional boundaries and safeguarding standards.
- Resilience and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to manage challenging situations calmly and respectfully.
- Understanding of issues related to addiction, offending, trauma, and social exclusion, and commitment to non-discriminatory, strengths-based practice.
- Willingness to work on-site in York, with flexibility to respond to service needs; relevant training or a qualification in coaching, support work, or social care is beneficial.
