Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) Architect
6 month contract with scope to extend
Up to £830/day pay inside IR35
Requirements:
- Deep and current CPE architecture experience.
- Strong knowledge of broadband gateways, in-home networking and Wi‑Fi technologies.
- Expertise across Wi‑Fi 6, Wi‑Fi 7 and emerging Wi‑Fi 8 standards.
- Experience running RFI/RFP processes and supplier evaluations.
- Ability to challenge suppliers and assess technical proposals.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Someone capable of operating independently with minimal oversight.
- A contractor with proven delivery experience rather than theoretical knowledge.

Technical requirements:
- CPE architecture and design experience.
- Telecommunications or broadband operator background preferred.
- Experience with OEMs, silicon vendors and hardware suppliers.
- Knowledge of RDK-B, OpenWRT and embedded CPE software environments.
- Understanding of DOCSIS, XGS-PON, Ethernet, TR-069, USP/TR-369, Thread, Zigbee and Bluetooth.
- Ability to create architecture documentation, specifications, compliance matrices and evaluation frameworks.
- Develop next-generation CPE architecture requirements.
- Produce RFI and RFP technical documentation.
- Create evaluation criteria and scoring frameworks.
- Review and score supplier responses.
- Lead technical workshops with suppliers and vendors.
- Support proof-of-concept activities where required.
- Present recommendations to senior leadership.
- Provide structured handover documentation into delivery teams.
