Turn your passion for Consents and Environmental Management into a meaningful career.

What is the Role?

As a Consents and Environment Graduate, you’ll gain hands-on experience across different stages of the transmission project lifecycle. You’ll support environmental assessments and site inspections, review project documentation and work with engineering and construction teams to help avoid or minimise environmental impacts. You’ll build relationships with colleagues, contractors, regulators and local communities while developing your knowledge of environmental compliance, consenting and risk management. The programme will help prepare you for a future career as a Consents and Environment Manager within SSEN Transmission.

Our Consents & Environment teams help ensure projects are developed and delivered responsibly, balancing environmental, planning and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

What We're Looking For

You'll have, or be expected to achieve, a minimum 2:2 honours degree in Geography, Town Planning, Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Management, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Biodiversity Net Gain, Environmental Restoration, Natural Sciences, Biology, Zoology, or PR and Communications.

We're looking for graduates who are excited by the opportunity to develop specialist expertise while contributing to projects that will have a lasting impact on communities, infrastructure and the future electricity network.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
