Job Title: Constituency Agent
Working for: Rutland & Stamford Conservative Association
Location: Geographical area covered by the Rutland & Stamford constituency. Face to face meetings essential in a volunteer driven organisation, some home working also possible
Term of employment: 1 December 2026 to 31 May 2027
Salary: £2,500 a month
Holiday Entitlement: 12 days plus bank holidays. Holidays can’t be taken between 29 March 2027 and 7 May 2027 inclusive.

Job Details
There will be elections on Thursday 6 May 2027 for 27 wards within the Rutland & Stamford parliamentary constituency. Of these wards, 15 wards, electing 27 councillors, are for the Rutland County Council. Nine wards, electing 15 councillors, are within South Kesteven District Council. Three wards, electing five councillors, are within Harborough District Council. The job of the Constituency Agent will be to work alongside and support our candidates in their campaigning in the period up to the start of the election period on circa 1 April 2027. And to act as their election agent and campaign manager from the start of the election period up until post-election returns are submitted and agreed with the relevant returning officers.
Qualifications Required for Post
- A levels or relevant experience.
Experience/Skills Required for Post
- Demonstrable political campaign experience
- Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision
- Problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Interpersonal skills with an ability to manage and bring to consensus multiple stakeholders
- Ability to negotiate, influence and motivate
- High degree of IT knowledge
- Enthusiasm for digital campaigning and experience of running social media campaigns

Overall Purpose of the Post
The post is responsible for supporting the work of the Management Committee of the Rutland & Stamford Conservative Association in furthering the aims of the local party, in particular returning the maximum number of candidates in elections on Thursday 6 May 2027. The Agent will administer the day to day running of the Association as well as election preparation and campaigns in the run up to 6 May 2027, supporting all candidates.
Main Duties
- Developing, promoting and protecting the Party brand to ensure all messaging is ‘on-brand’ and upholds the Association’s values and reputation.
- Planning, preparing and implementing a program of events and appeals to raise funds to pay for the costs of the Agent and the election campaign.
- Producing cross-media content in conjunction with Alicia Kearns, council leaders, existing councillors, candidates and the Deputy Chairman (Political) and assisting in the production of campaign material.
- Organising the printing, payment for and delivery of pre-election and election literature.
- Leading, developing and coordinating the constituency website and digital strategy and supporting the digital presence of councillors and candidates where necessary.
- Inputting canvass returns and other electoral data to maintain an up to date marked register of electors.
- Facilitating voter contact operations, including on-the-street visibility and leaflet campaigns.
- Leading campaign operations and sessions leading up to election day support.
- Building relationships with local media and leading the creation and placement of campaign stories, press releases and digital content across social channels.
- Efficiently and effectively dealing with enquiries from members, the public and the media.
- Leading internal communications (via email, WhatsApp etc) with members to ensure that members are aware of the Association’s activities and to support the creation of an Association culture that people enjoy and like being part of.
- Supporting the Treasurer in the preparation of the Association’s accounts.
- Any other appropriate duty as directed.

Personal Characteristics and Skills
This is a high-profile role, requiring a self-starter who has strong inter-personal skills and organising ability. The role requires liaising with Alicia Kearns, existing councillors, candidates, local and central Party structures, the leaders of the Conservative group on three local authorities, members of the Party, members of the public and the media. This requires flexibility and multi-tasking. Confidence with IT is essential and also social media. There will be evening meetings and weekend work, especially once the election period begins at the start of April 2027.
