Asset Engineer
Location: Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, with regular travel to other local sites
Contract: Contract, Inside IR35
We are seeking an experienced Asset Engineer to support maintenance and operational readiness activities at Hinkley Point C. This contract role is suited to someone with a strong background in maintenance practices within a large construction organisation and experience working in highly regulated environments.
Role Overview
As Asset Engineer, you will support the Maintenance Leads in delivering the Comm-Ops Maintenance programme, helping to ensure plant assets are safe, reliable and ready for operational life. You will provide technical expertise across the wider organisation and contribute to the development of effective maintenance arrangements for a safe and high-performing power station.
You will provide governance and oversight of contractors, support assets before and after handover from commissioning, and help ensure plant equipment meets operational safety and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering oversight and technical support for assets before and after handover from commissioning.
- Manage and oversee pre-operational maintenance routines, including guidance for maintenance technicians.
- Review documentation, chair meetings and assess contractor compliance with care and maintenance arrangements.
- Troubleshoot plant issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented to resolve problems and prevent recurrence.
- Contribute to the development of standards, procedures and arrangements that support safe and reliable operations.
- Research operating experience from across the nuclear industry and apply relevant learning to support performance improvement.
- Work flexibly within your area of competence and undertake training as required to meet business needs.

Skills and Experience
- HNC, HND, degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Background in civil engineering, ideally within a large construction organisation.
- Knowledge of maintenance practices and experience developing, reviewing or working with technical documentation.
- Understanding of quality standards and requirements within the UK nuclear regulatory framework or a similarly regulated environment.
- Previous experience using an asset management tool.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational and IT skills.
- Proactive and analytical approach, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Time-served apprenticeship or previous technician experience would be advantageous.
