Before you apply
This is a senior, hands-on role at a small Prime Central London contractor, and we will only consider applicants who meet all of the following. The screening questions reflect these points and applications that do not meet them are declined automatically.
- Currently living in London or the South East and able to be on our sites in W8, W11, W2, SW3, SW7 and Knightsbridge most days
- At least 8 years at contracts manager, construction manager or director level with a UK contractor (not consultancy, not client-side project management)
- Personally delivered residential refurbishment contracts in central London in the £1m–£5m range under JCT
- Have run both delivery models: your own direct-labour site teams and a sub-contract supply chain
- Hands-on heritage and listed-building experience, including listed building consent and conservation-area conditions
- Have owned cost-to-complete and job profitability on your contracts, not just reported on them
- Right to work in the UK without sponsorship
If that is you, read on.
About us
Investre Construction is a Prime Central London contractor specialising in heritage refurbishment, listed-building restoration, apartment fit-out and insured reinstatement work. We are part of the Investre group but run as a standalone business on arm's-length commercial terms: the group's development companies are clients, contracting with us on the same footing as anyone else, and we work for private and professional clients alongside them.
Our work runs from £20k jobs delivered with our own direct labour up to £1–5m refurbishment and reinstatement contracts run through the sub-contract route, nearly all of it in W8, W11, W2, SW3, SW7 and Knightsbridge.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
We are after one person to run the business.
The role
You would lead Investre Construction: our own site teams, our supply chain, and delivery on every contract, all under JCT, all for clients who expect to be treated as clients.
The range is the job. You might be sorting out a party wall issue on a stucco terrace in the morning and chairing a pre-start with the sub-contractors on a £3m refurbishment that afternoon. We want someone comfortable at both ends, not just one.
You would report to the Managing Director. Autonomy here is real, and it is conditional on cost discipline. Run the jobs your way and build the team around you, but spend the money as if it were yours. Keep the numbers tight and you will be left to get on with it.
What you would own
- Delivery end to end: pre-start through handover, snagging and defects close-out
- Programme: building it, holding it, and telling us and the client early and honestly when it moves
- Direct labour: recruiting, deploying and managing our own site teams, and matching the right trade to the right task
- Sub-contract procurement: packaging, tendering, letting and managing the trades on site
- Commercial accountability on every contract. Our QS handles contracts, sub-contract packages, pricing and valuations; you own the view on cost-to-complete and on where a job is making or losing money
- JCT administration alongside our QS, and the client relationship on every job, group companies included
- Health, safety and CDM, and the quality of what we hand over
- Listed building consent, conservation-area conditions, party wall, building control, warranty providers and neighbours: the realities of building in PCL
- The interface with each job's design team: buildability, RFIs, and the things the drawings do not answer

Who we are looking for
- A track record of personally delivering residential contracts in central London, at both small and substantial scale
- Fluency in both delivery models. Running direct labour and managing a sub-contract supply chain are different jobs; we need someone who has done both
- Proper heritage and listed-building competence. Most of what we touch is old, constrained and overlooked on all sides
- Real commercial literacy: owning the numbers, not commenting on someone else's cost report
- Cost-conscious to the point of stubbornness: the right trade for the task, the right price for the package, every time
- The presence to hold sub-contractors to their obligations, and the judgement to know which battles are worth having
- Direct, no ego, early with bad news. Small team, no room for surprises
Package
£100,000 to £135,000 depending on experience, plus a bonus tied to what you deliver.
To apply
Apply with a short note on what you have delivered: scale, delivery route, and one job that went wrong and what you did about it. No covering letter needed. Applications without this note, or from outside London and the South East, will not be progressed.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
