Summary
Caddick Construction is a family-owned business renowned for quality, integrity, and innovation across the UK construction sector. Due to continued regional growth, we are seeking an experienced Construction Director to lead the strategic and operational delivery of our General Construction portfolio.
This is a pivotal senior leadership role, responsible for driving build strategy, operational governance, commercial performance, and risk management across projects from conception through to completion. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, influence key stakeholders, and play a central role in delivering sustainable business growth, operational excellence, and exceptional project outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the delivery of the regional construction strategy, ensuring safe, profitable, and high-quality project delivery.
- Provide strategic leadership across live and legacy General Construction projects.
- Take full accountability for operational governance, SHEQ compliance, risk management, and commercial performance.
- Work closely with commercial, planning, design, engineering, building services, pre-construction, and aftercare teams to ensure joined-up project delivery.
- Build and maintain strong client, consultant, and supply chain relationships.
- Oversee operational resourcing, talent development, succession planning, and team performance.
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice across operations.
- Lead senior project reviews, performance reporting, CVRs, and commercial risk management.
- Provide operational leadership input during pre-construction and tender stages to ensure robust planning, resourcing, methodology, and risk assessment.
- Support business development activities by strengthening external relationships and generating new pipeline opportunities.
- Deputise for the Operations Director as required.

Skills and Experience
- Proven senior leadership experience within a main contracting environment.
- Extensive experience delivering large-scale General Construction projects.
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness with demonstrable profitability management.
- Track record of leading high-performing regional operational teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong SHEQ leadership ethos.
- Strategic thinker with strong operational delivery capability.
