SEH French is looking for a motivated and detail-focused Construction Estimator to join our Ipswich office. This is a great opportunity to become part of a friendly team, preparing competitive tenders and cost plans for a wide range of construction projects across multiple sectors, with values typically ranging from £200,000 to £15 million.
About the role:
You will work independently and as part of the wider team to compile tenders, assess project information and support high-quality submissions. You will deal with various procurement routes, such as specification and drawings, Bills of Quantities, design and build and two-stage tendering. The role would suit someone who communicates well, works methodically and can manage deadlines with confidence.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare competitive tenders with support from your line manager
- Produce cost plans from RIBA Stage 0 to Stage 3, ideally including pricing from first principles
- Take off quantities from drawings and compile bills of quantities
- Lead tender enquiries and present tender information to the senior management team
- Allocate elemental bill items into works packages
- Review subcontractor comparisons, identify scope gaps and work with the supply chain to explore value engineering options
- Price site preliminaries
- Identify key risks and opportunities for tender settlement
- Review contract and commercial information
- Attend site visits, tender interviews and client meetings
