Construction Governance and Performance Manager

Location

National (Flexible base location anywhere in Great Britain, with national travel as required)

Our construction team is undergoing a significant transformation with a focus on insourcing and in-house development across our project portfolio. As part of the RM Engineering family, we have a mission to design, develop and deploy future ready, innovative solutions across our property, automation and maintenance teams. Our focus is on recruiting highly talented, motivated and driven individuals to support the success of our strategy and we have some exciting and high-profile roles available across our teams.

As a Construction Governance and Performance Manager you will play a key role in planning, coordinating and assuring complex construction and estate improvement programmes across a national portfolio. This is a senior role with real influence, focused on strengthening programme control, improving forecasting accuracy and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with business priorities.

Working closely with Construction Programme and Project Managers, you will provide strategic planning leadership across new build, refurbishment, building services engineering and estate improvement projects, from early feasibility through to handover and commissioning.

What will you do?

  • Lead the development and management of fully integrated construction programmes across all RIBA stages, using internal project management systems and MS Project.
  • Create robust baseline schedules, manage change control, carry out critical path and risk analysis, and ensure programmes are realistic, resilient and aligned with cost, scope and operational requirements.
  • Provide planning assurance, produce clear reporting for senior stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement in planning processes, tools and standards.
  • Manage and develop a small team, support value-for-money strategies and contribute to make-versus-buy decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and align with safety, compliance and CDM 2015 requirements.
  • Regular site presence is required, with nationwide travel expected as part of the role. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong background in planning, scheduling and project controls.
  • Proven experience developing and assuring complex, integrated construction programmes.
  • Confident working across multi-disciplinary teams and influencing at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical skills, including critical path, delay and risk analysis.
  • Clear communicator, able to present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience driving value-for-money and value engineering approaches.
  • Well organised, detail-focused and comfortable managing multiple priorities.

Qualifications (desirable, Not Essential)

  • Relevant Degree or equivalent experience in programme management.
  • Formal training in planning and project controls software.
  • CSCS card (or equivalent H&S qualification).
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
