Job Opportunity: HSE Engineer, Construction Safety Engineer, or HSE Advisor

Are you an experienced HSE Engineer, Construction Safety Engineer, or HSE Advisor with hands-on experience supporting live industrial construction projects?

We're recruiting for a global engineering business delivering complex projects across the oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, and process industries.

This is not a generalist or purely office-based compliance role. You'll work closely with project managers, construction managers, field engineers, and contractors to manage HSE performance across international construction and field-service activities throughout the EMEA region.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and management systems
  • Produce standard HSE documentation packs, templates, and process maps
  • Conduct construction-site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Review engineer and contractor competencies before mobilization
  • Ensure personnel meet client, project, and country-specific requirements
  • Vet subcontractors, freelance engineers, and field-service personnel
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and non-conformances
  • Complete root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Deliver HSE training and promote positive behavioral safety
  • Monitor incident data, audit findings, KPIs, and HSE performance
  • Maintain calibration and certification records for safety-critical equipment
  • Support compliance with UK and international HSE legislation

What we're looking for

  • Proven HSE experience within construction or live industrial project environments
  • Experience supporting oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, energy, combustion, or heavy engineering projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety, risk assessment, and contractor management
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Understanding of mobilization, competency verification, and contractor compliance
  • Confidence working directly with construction managers, engineers, and contractors
  • Strong communication, reporting, and organizational skills
  • A practical, visible, and hands-on approach to health and safety
  • Willingness to travel internationally across the EMEA region
  • Ability to commute to the company's headquarters near Stamford and Oakham

Desirable qualifications

  • NEBOSH qualification or equivalent
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Quality Management, or a related discipline
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001
  • Construction-related health and safety qualifications
