BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting x2 Construction Manager to join the London Construction segment.
You will be involved in preconstruction to successfully secure projects and oversee their progress and delivery in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner. You will be responsible for planning, managing and monitoring the activities on site including health, safety & wellbeing, budgeting, organisation, resource control, implementation and scheduling including the management of the Contract, project risks and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion including defects liability periods
- Review and monitor the project(s) in detail against planned deliverables and estimated costs
- Oversee all onsite and offsite construction to monitor compliance with design standards, safety regulations and BAM processes and procedures
- Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors
- Select plant, materials and equipment and track inventory
- Meet contractual conditions of performance and delivery
- Monitor the work progress on a daily basis
- Prepare internal and external reports
- Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
- Negotiate terms of agreements, contracts and obtain permits and licenses
- Analyse, manage and mitigate risks at strategic level
- Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
- Client focused lead for all aspects of the project
- Preconstruction experience to lead tender teams and submissions
- Prepare and advise on project logistics including site set-up and phasing plans
- Provide method statements for constructing the project for submissions
- Manage and assist preparation of an accurate and efficient construction programme including design and procurement activities
- Identify opportunities to improve project delivery by considering safety, buildability, quality, reduction in defects and provide best value compliant solutions
- Identify contract and strategic objectives including 3rd Party requirements
- Production of preliminaries costs including determining staff requirements and plant/equipment working alongside the commercial teams

What do you bring to the role?
- Proven experience in construction management
- with a proven track record delivering various projects and leading teams up to a value of £200m (or multiple smaller contracts) across major commercial, education, health and leisure sectors.
- Advanced knowledge of pre-construction and construction management processes
- Experience of working with multi-sector contracts and clients
- Understanding of the London market
- Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
- Good understanding of digital techniques with a desire to drive improvements and the benefits through embracing digital technology
- A strong understanding of current sustainability requirements, with proven experience in whole-life carbon assessment and delivering social impact responsibilities
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at both an interpersonal level and through formal reporting.
- Ability to liaise and collaborate with any external clients and consultants to represent BAM and the project teams, professionally as well as demonstrating full knowledge of the projects and the business
- Marketing of the business and the development future opportunities
- Ability to plan and see the big picture
- Competence in conflict and crisis management
- Leadership and human resources management skills
- Ability to develop individuals within teams
- Create a work environment that is both supportive and collaborative

- Degree educated in construction management, architecture, engineering or a related field
