We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Construction Manager to join our Specialist Bridges Inspection and Maintenance (SBIM) contract in Bristol, working on the iconic Severn, Prince of Wales and Avonmouth Bridges.

The SBIM contract is to deliver the inspection and maintenance programme along with scheme on behalf of National Highways. This is a great opportunity to be part of delivering complex projects in the specialist structures industry.

Construction Manager plays an important part in managing the distribution of site supervision staff and ensure that they focus on the concepts of health and safety. Please note that you will be required to work at height and must be able to do so.

The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week.

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure all work is performed in line with health and safety regulations and develop safety procedures.
  • Plan, supervise, and deliver maintenance and renewals projects on time and within budget, minimizing traffic disruption.
  • Coordinate required resources and oversee on-site operations, including resolving operational and safety issues.
  • Review and manage design options, contractor risk assessments, and ensure accurate measurement and valuation of completed work.
  • Capture resource use via digital tools and support commercial team with project estimating and waste management.
  • Mentor staff and apprentices, manage teams using company systems, and participate in the emergency on-call rota.

What You’ll Bring:

  • HNC / HND Civil Engineering or similar.
  • 2Day SSSTS / 5 Day SMSTS.
  • Temporary Works supervisor / Temporary works co-ordinator.
  • Experience of lifting operations and working at height.
  • Competent in managing projects.
  • Personal Highway Safety.
