Construction Manager – Landmark Government Infrastructure Project

A leading Tier 1 Main Contractor is looking to appoint an ambitious Construction Manager to join one of the UK's most technically challenging and innovative construction projects.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a flagship £35m government-backed development in Oxford and take ownership of a project that will contribute towards the future of Britain's energy infrastructure.

The Project

This is far more than a conventional construction scheme.

Working on behalf of a major UK Government department, you'll play a key role in delivering a first-of-its-kind research and industrial facility designed to support the development of next-generation energy technology. With construction programmed through until March 2028, the project offers long-term stability and the opportunity to see a landmark development through from early construction to completion.

The scheme comprises the construction of three large industrial (Steel frame / Steel Clad) buildings, the largest extending to over 3,000m², together with a highly specialised above-ground reinforced concrete bunker incorporating concrete wall sections up to 3 metres thick. The wider development includes extensive piling operations, groundworks, reinforced concrete structures, steel-framed and steel-clad buildings, infrastructure works and complex external packages.

Having recently completed the demolition phase, the project is now entering the main construction programme with piling and groundworks underway before progressing into the major reinforced concrete and structural steel packages.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You

We're looking for someone with the ambition and drive to take ownership of a complex project.

You'll already be operating as a Construction Manager, or be an experienced Senior Site Manager ready to step into a broader leadership role on a major scheme.

Ideally you'll have experience delivering large-scale new build projects involving significant reinforced concrete packages, groundworks and complex construction sequencing. Whilst experience with structural steel is advantageous, a strong understanding of reinforced concrete construction will be particularly valuable.

You'll also possess:

  • Excellent programme management and organisational skills.
  • Strong subcontractor management and coordination experience.
  • Outstanding communication and leadership abilities.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the confidence to drive delivery.
  • Excellent health & safety knowledge.
  • Experience using digital site management platforms such as FieldView would be advantageous.

Why Join?

Opportunities to work on projects of this nature are exceptionally rare.

You'll become part of a Tier 1 contractor renowned for delivering some of the UK's most technically advanced and prestigious construction projects, whilst gaining exposure to an innovative development that will have national significance for years to come.

If you're looking for genuine responsibility, long-term project stability, clear career progression and the opportunity to deliver something truly unique, this role offers exactly that.
