The Opportunity
One of our industry leading chemical clients is embarking on a significant programme of infrastructure improvement at its site based in South Wales.
They are seeking two experienced Construction Managers to take ownership of this on an initial 6-12 month basis. Competitive rate provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate construction activities from planning through to completion – the candidate must be comfortable being involved in field work themselves
- Manage contractors and subcontractors across mechanical and civil work scopes.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact between site teams and the client.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation plans.
- Review and challenge construction sequences, work packs and installation methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with site safety procedures, permits, RAMS and CDM regulations.
- Drive accountability across the project team and provide accurate reporting on project status, milestones and next steps.
- Support commissioning, testing and handover activities where required.

Essential Requirements
- Minimum 10 years experience in Construction Management
- Proven experience delivering chemical, petrochemical, process plant, industrial or COMAH projects valued at £10 million+.
- Comfortable being present in the field and actively engaged with site activities rather than solely office based.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to engage directly with clients and senior project personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contractors and coordinate construction activities in a live operational environment.
- Excellent understanding of construction safety, planning and project controls.

Desirable Experience
- Mechanical construction background.
- Knowledge of:
- Pipework installation
- Vessel installations
- Mechanical equipment installation
- Process plant construction
- Commissioning and handover activities
- SMSTS, NEBOSH and CDM knowledge.
- Previous experience on a highly regulated site.
