The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing construction activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget. Working collaboratively with project, engineering and commercial teams, you will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance whilst supporting the continued success of the business.

This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining site-based responsibilities with office and home working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage construction activities across multiple rail infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate and supervise site teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
  • Monitor progress, manage project risks and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Support resource planning, forecasting and budget management.
  • Review construction documentation, methodologies and technical specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards, company procedures and statutory regulations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement across all projects.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience delivering major and minor rail infrastructure projects.
  • An Engineering Manager's Licence, or a Signalling Supervisor's Licence with demonstrable progression towards obtaining an Engineering Manager's Licence.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with experience managing site teams and subcontractors.
  • Experience in budgeting, cost control, forecasting and resource planning.
  • Proven knowledge of rail construction activities within signalling, power and/or telecoms environments.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety standards, regulations and industry best practice.
  • Experience in project controls, including scheduling, progress reporting, risk management and documentation.
  • A relevant engineering or construction qualification (Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with Network Rail standards and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work effectively within a hybrid working environment.
