Mechanical Construction Manager β Hyperscale Data Centres
π Location: UK | Full-time, site-based
π· Salary: Β£95,000βΒ£110,000 DOE
ποΈ Up to Β£110k. Major hyperscale data centre developments. The opportunity to influence construction delivery on infrastructure supporting one of the world's largest cloud platforms.
We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager who knows how to challenge Tier 1 contractors, protect critical milestones and keep complex mechanical installations moving. Coming from a major mechanical contractor or MEP delivery background? This could be your opportunity to move into a high-impact owner-side construction oversight role.
About the Role
You'll oversee mechanical construction on major hyperscale data centre developments, ensuring critical cooling and building services infrastructure is installed safely, correctly and to programme. Working alongside Tier 1 contractors, specialist mechanical subcontractors and equipment vendors, you'll focus on construction quality, contractor performance, installation sequencing and commissioning readiness.
This is a hands-on technical oversight role for someone who understands how complex mechanical systems are built, tested and prepared for operational handover.
What You'll Be Doing
- Oversee mechanical installations covering chilled water systems, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and specialist cooling equipment.
- Challenge contractor progress, resources, sequencing and recovery programmes.
- Monitor the installation of pipework, pumps, valves, chillers and associated mechanical infrastructure.
- Coordinate mechanical interfaces with CSA, electrical contractors and specialist equipment vendors.
- Review mechanical drawings, technical submissions, installation methodologies and quality standards.
- Oversee pressure testing, leak testing, flushing, water treatment and system balancing.
- Identify construction risks, resolve technical constraints and drive commissioning readiness through to handover.

Iβm in my final year doing Economics and I donβt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer β it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donβt need a masters. Letβs look at the ones youβd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
