Job Description

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead on-site delivery of electrical infrastructure projects, including substations, overhead lines, and underground cable installations. Operating as part of the wider Project Management discipline, you will provide day-to-day site leadership, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution of construction activities across complex energy projects.

This role is suited to individuals with significant site experience who can confidently coordinate contractors, manage construction sequencing, and ensure high-quality installation of HV/LV and associated civil works. Candidates will be required to be present in our client office or site 2/3 days per week.

Job Objectives

Construction Managers oversee multiple site-based work fronts, ensuring that construction activities are executed in accordance with approved designs, method statements, and regulatory requirements.

You will act as the primary on-site interface between contractors, client representatives, and the Project Management team.

As the Construction Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Oversee programme-level governance, reporting, assurance, and performance management across multiple projects or major workstreams.
  • Lead day-to-day site operations, managing construction activities across substations, OHL, UGC, HV/LV works, and associated civil engineering tasks.
  • Manage subcontractors, site logistics, and work sequencing, ensuring delivery aligns with programme and safety requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with H&S, CDM, environmental, and quality standards, including reviewing RAMS, permits, and safety documentation.
  • Oversee the installation of electrical systems, ensuring correct implementation of designs, technical specifications, and installation practices.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, designers, and client representatives, providing clear updates, technical input, and solution-focused site leadership.
  • Monitor site progress, report against plan, and escalate risks, issues, and blockers to maintain programme performance.
  • Resolve on-site issues proactively, ensuring safe and efficient decision-making aligned with client governance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
