Construction Package Manager
Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 depending on experience
Position Type: Permanent, full-time
Work Location: Site-based with travel costs fully reimbursed

Can you coordinate design, procurement, subcontractors, logistics and programme while remaining close to what is happening on site?
Winsearch is proud to partner with an established specialist contractor looking to appoint an experienced Construction Package Manager to support a major, long-term construction programme in Barrow-in-Furness.
This is a hands-on delivery role with responsibility for assigned packages from mobilisation through to completion. You’ll have the authority to drive progress, coordinate different workstreams and resolve issues before they affect programme, safety or quality.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of packages including windows, external doors, building services, interiors and associated construction works.
Working alongside project, design, planning, commercial and site teams, you’ll make sure each package is properly coordinated and aligned with the wider construction programme.
This role needs someone who can see the bigger picture while maintaining control of the detail. You’ll be expected to manage subcontractors, challenge performance, coordinate interfaces and take practical action when delivery begins to drift.

- Taking full ownership of assigned construction packages
- Managing delivery from mobilisation through to handover
- Coordinating subcontractors, labour, plant, materials and logistics
- Developing and managing short-term lookahead programmes
- Monitoring progress and implementing recovery plans
- Managing interfaces between different trades and packages
- Coordinating design information, procurement and installation
- Leading daily briefings and package coordination meetings
- Reviewing RAMS, ITPs and technical submissions
- Ensuring work complies with drawings, specifications and standards
- Managing inspections, quality records, snagging and defects
- Supporting commercial teams with package costs and variations
- Identifying programme, technical and commercial risks
- Reporting progress clearly to senior management
- Liaising with clients, consultants and relevant authorities
What They’re Looking For
- Proven experience managing construction packages on major projects
- Main contractor experience
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and site delivery
- Experience managing specialist subcontractors and site teams
- Ability to coordinate design, procurement, logistics and installation
- Strong planning and programme-management skills
- Experience with RAMS, ITPs, inspections and quality records
- Good commercial awareness
- Ability to identify variations, delays and cost risks
- Confident leadership and stakeholder-management skills
- Practical problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Confidence managing several priorities under pressure

Qualifications
Essential
- Degree, HNC or HND in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience working for a main contractor on major projects
- Demonstrable experience managing construction packages
Desirable
- SMSTS
- CSCS Black Card or equivalent manager-level card
- CIOB, ICE or another relevant professional membership
About You
You’ll be organised, visible on site and comfortable holding subcontractors accountable. You won’t wait for issues to resolve themselves. You’ll anticipate problems, coordinate the right people and make sure actions are followed through.
The right person will be able to build productive relationships while maintaining clear expectations around programme, safety, quality and performance.
