JOB TITLE: Construction Planner

LOCATION: Aberdeen

JOB TYPE: Permanent

START DATE: ASAP

About the Role

TEXO Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established and growing construction business in the recruitment of an experienced Construction Planner to join their Pre-Construction team.

This is a great opportunity for a Planner with a strong construction background to take a key role in the planning and development of projects from initial tender through to contract award and delivery.

You'll work closely with Estimating, Design, Operations, Supply Chain, and Bid teams to develop realistic and commercially competitive programmes, identify project risks and opportunities, and help shape successful tender submissions.

The role would suit someone who enjoys being involved early in a project and can confidently turn drawings, specifications, and project requirements into clear and achievable construction programmes.

Key Responsibilities

Tender & Pre-Construction

  • Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Develop tender programmes based on project scope, construction methodology, resources, and key milestones.
  • Establish target dates, resource requirements, and project constraints.
  • Work closely with Estimators and the wider Pre-Construction team to develop effective tender strategies.
  • Identify scope gaps, risks, opportunities, and potential value engineering solutions.
  • Review design and specification alternatives and provide programme input.
  • Attend site visits to understand logistical, access, sequencing, and programme constraints.
  • Support the development of construction methodologies and sequencing strategies.

Planning & Programming

  • Produce detailed tender and construction programmes using appropriate planning software.
  • Develop realistic activity durations using industry benchmarks and company outputs.
  • Carry out critical path analysis and identify potential programme risks.
  • Develop subcontractor and supply chain programmes where required.
  • Develop tender programmes into detailed contract programmes following project award.
  • Support project teams with programme updates, progress monitoring, and reporting.
  • Prepare phasing, logistics, temporary works, and construction sequencing plans.
  • Provide programme advice and support to operational teams throughout project delivery.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
