Construction Programme Manager

Banking is changing. At Metro Bank, we believe great customer experiences start with great environments. Our stores, offices and workplaces play a critical role in bringing our brand to life, creating spaces where colleagues thrive and customers experience the very best of relationship banking.

As Construction Programme Manager, you'll lead the delivery of Metro Bank's capital investment programme across our estate. From new store openings and next generation refurbishments to workplace projects and remediation programmes, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of our physical footprint.

Through strong programme leadership, commercial expertise and stakeholder engagement, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards whilst creating spaces that support our customers and colleagues.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading the successful delivery of construction and refurbishment projects across the Metro Bank estate, from initial concept through to completion and handover.
  • Managing a diverse portfolio of projects including new stores, refurbishments, workplace projects, remediation works and strategic estate initiatives.
  • Partnering with Property, Retail, Facilities and other business stakeholders to develop project briefs and translate business requirements into deliverable solutions.
  • Taking ownership of project budgets, programmes, risks and governance to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within approved investment parameters.
  • Leading and coordinating consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers, creating a culture of collaboration, accountability and high performance.
  • Driving commercial excellence through effective procurement, contract management, change control and cost management processes.
  • Preparing robust business cases and securing appropriate approvals to support capital investment decisions.
  • Ensuring all statutory approvals, regulatory requirements and health and safety obligations are achieved throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Building strong relationships with landlords, local authorities, consultants and third parties to overcome barriers and support successful delivery.
  • Providing clear and meaningful project reporting, enabling informed decision making and effective risk management.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, balancing customer, colleague, operational and commercial considerations.
  • Continuously identifying opportunities to improve project delivery, construction standards and the overall performance of Metro Bank's estate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Important Footnote

Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box. We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked. So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Good luck!
