International Opportunity | FCDO Infrastructure Programme
Location: Lagos, Nigeria – International deployment
Salary: From £90,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Deployment Cycle: 14 weeks overseas / 3 weeks leave – 17-week rotation
The Opportunity
G3 Systems is looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong UK construction background to join our international project team in Lagos, Nigeria.
This is an opportunity for a construction-biased Project Manager to take a leading role in the delivery of a significant FCDO site renovation programme, working within a complex, operational and internationally based environment.
You will have overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the project, ensuring it is delivered safely, efficiently, to programme and in accordance with contractual, technical and quality requirements.
Working closely with G3 Systems' senior management, UK and FCDO stakeholders, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and programme partners, you will provide strong project leadership from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
This role would particularly suit an experienced Project Manager who has built their career within the UK construction, infrastructure, engineering or defence sectors and is now looking to broaden their international experience and take on a highly visible delivery role.
What You'll Be Doing
As Project Manager, you will act as the principal point of contact between G3 Systems and the client, providing leadership, direction and control across the project.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the project and confidently taking ownership of delivery, including where joining the project part way through its lifecycle.
- Quickly developing an understanding of the project, its contractual requirements, stakeholders, risks and priorities.
- Providing strong leadership to the Construction Management Team and wider project team.
- Acting as the principal liaison with the client, maintaining effective and professional stakeholder relationships.
- Managing subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring performance, programme and contractual obligations are effectively controlled.
- Maintaining and managing the project programme, ensuring deliverables, dependencies and the critical path are clearly identified and regularly updated.
- Monitoring progress to ensure the project remains on programme and within budget.
- Producing clear and accurate weekly project reports for the Operations Manager.
- Identifying, assessing and managing project risks through the project risk register.
- Working with Sectional Site Managers to monitor installation, workmanship and quality through to completion.
- Working alongside the Construction Health & Safety Manager and QHSE team to ensure appropriate Safety Management Systems are implemented and maintained.
- Managing internal and external design teams and consultants to ensure design deliverables meet project requirements and deadlines.
- Leading resource planning and implementing programme changes using Microsoft Project.
- Reviewing tender information, including tender analysis and recommendations.
- Developing project scope in conjunction with the design team and client.
- Preparing project budgets, forecasts and client reports on a monthly cycle.
- Chairing weekly project meetings, assigning actions and monitoring delivery.
- Coordinating supply-chain meetings to ensure materials, equipment and services remain aligned with the programme.
- Representing G3 Systems as Project Lead at weekly and monthly client and programme meetings.
- Supporting the effective management of change, compensation events, commercial matters and contractual obligations under NEC4 ECC.

What We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager who can combine strong construction knowledge with confident project leadership and commercial awareness.
You'll ideally bring:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within construction, infrastructure, engineering or defence.
- A strong UK construction background and an understanding of UK construction standards, processes and delivery expectations.
- Practical experience managing projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
- Strong practical experience of NEC4 contract management, preferably NEC4 ECC.
- Experience managing complex construction programmes within operational, challenging or high-risk environments.
- Strong programme and project controls experience.
- Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Good commercial awareness, including budgets, forecasting and cost control.
- Experience managing change, compensation events, risk and contractual matters.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Confidence working with senior client representatives and government stakeholders.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to make effective decisions in demanding environments.
- A structured, proactive and organised approach to project delivery.
- Excellent reporting and communication skills.
- The flexibility and resilience required to operate effectively within an international project environment.
Qualifications & Professional Experience
Ideally, you will hold:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
- NEC4 ECC Project Manager accreditation or formal NEC4 training.
- APM, PMI, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management qualification.
- Chartered status or membership of a relevant professional institution.
- Previous experience working on UK MoD, NATO or defence-related programmes.
- Previous international or overseas project experience.
- Experience working within UK or European government and/or defence procurement environments.
