Construction Project Manager

12 month contract

Based in Belfast

Offering £40.44ph Inside IR35

As the Construction Project Manager, you will be working alongside a market-leading Defence and Aerospace company who are constantly growing and developing. They are always looking to bring on new talents such as yourself and further develop your skills to enable you to grow within the company and industry.


You will be involved in:

  • Taking full ownership of end-to-end project delivery
  • Accountable for the delivery of identified capital projects, focusing on budget, schedule, and quality output in line with business needs
  • Managing budgets, controlling expenditure, and ensuring resources are used efficiently
  • Driving the management of project design development across the complete delivery lifecycle, including Design & Build stage to meet demanding deadlines
  • Managing directly, and liaising with others in the management of stakeholders to ensure project timescales are met in line with internal governance and procedures
  • Providing clear leadership and direction to ensure all stakeholders/multi-functional project teams (internal and external) are aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle
  • Procuring, managing, and directing a diverse range of consultant expertise across a multidisciplinary set of skills including: Architecture, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural), Environmental, Archaeological, and Fire
  • Developing and maintaining project delivery plans, CAPEX business cases, risk/opportunity registers, cashflow projections
  • Identifying and managing risks, escalating issues where necessary, and implementing mitigation strategies
  • Accountable for management of project control, including resourcing and service delivery requirements, ensuring consultant supervision where relevant, and approving all payment certificates to external consultants and suppliers
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of construction service providers for capital projects, including conformance and compliance, and proficient at escalating and managing any internal matters & change to the correct internal stakeholder

Your skillset & experience:

  • Possess a relevant third-level credential in engineering, design, or construction project management, or significant practical experience in construction/building services project management
  • Experience in managing large or multiple infrastructure/capital construction projects
  • Strong knowledge and experience of project management, contract management (i.e. through use of major contract forms, in particular NEC), strategic planning, methodologies, and construction delivery best practice
  • Strong understanding of the full construction lifecycle and processes
  • Knowledge and experience of mobilising and managing the supply chain, including design services and construction works
  • Foundation-level knowledge of mechanical and electrical building systems
  • Experience in preparing and presenting comprehensive project reporting
  • Hold relevant level of professional membership i.e. RICS, APM, IMechE, IET
  • Project management certification i.e. PRINCE2, PMP
  • Ability to translate client briefs into robust construction requirements, including scopes of work for external professionals
  • Experience in a complex client-side stakeholder environment
  • Experience in preparing and presenting gateway reviews
  • Competence with IT and project tools such as MS Project and G-Suite.
