Location: Enfield, Middlesex, EN3 7FJ

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Construction Recruiter to join our Head Office team based in Enfield, Middlesex. The Construction Recruiter is responsible for recruitment across the Galldris Group, including office staff, site staff, site operatives, apprentices and site labour, identifying candidates with the experience and ability to support the business across all operational regions. The role establishes an in-house recruitment capability that reduces reliance on external agencies and secures the people needed to deliver a growing portfolio of civil engineering and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Construction Recruiter, you will play a key role in supporting the recruitment function, ensuring the efficient attraction, selection, and onboarding of skilled candidates across our construction projects and business operations. Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruitment function: Establish an in-house recruitment function, network and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that support the business needs, together with a suite of job descriptions and profiles.
  • Full lifecycle delivery: Advertise, identify, vet and screen, recruit and first day at work, supporting Hiring Managers and candidates with clear communication throughout, and managing offer, contract and onboarding with HR.
  • Candidate network: Build and maintain a network of suitable candidates and operatives, promote suitable candidates internally, and maintain the applicant tracking system so vacancy and candidate records are accurate and auditable.
  • Forecasting and mobilisation: Work with Work Winning and Operations to forecast future staff and labour requirements, establish recruitment plans for new and established locations.
  • Cost reduction: Reduce recruitment cost by reducing dependency on external labour and recruitment agencies and provide salary and rate benchmarking to inform tender pricing and offers.
  • Supply chain: Establish, manage and coordinate an audited, compliant and competitive supply chain of recruitment and labour agencies, including terms, rates, preferred supplier list and employment status determinations.
  • Compliance: Ensure Right to Work checks, references and pre-employment screening are completed and recorded; verify CSCS, CPCS and NPORS competency and client clearances; handle candidate data in line with UK GDPR; and recruit in line with the Equality Act 2010, the Company EDI Policy and the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
  • Attraction and community: Arrange, coordinate and attend hiring events; work with Marketing on employer brand, careers content and recruitment campaigns; and work with our social value team to support apprenticeships, early careers and client social value employment commitments.
  • Reporting: Produce recruitment management information for the Senior Leadership Team, including live vacancies, time to hire, cost per hire, agency spend and early retention.

Qualifications/ Experience/Knowledge:

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in recruitment, and in construction, civil engineering or a related sector.
  • Working knowledge of UK recruitment compliance, including Right to Work, referencing and candidate data protection.
  • Competent in Microsoft 365, applicant tracking systems, job boards and LinkedIn Recruiter or similar.
  • Must be able to travel and hold a full UK driving licence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience in office based/management and blue collar / labour recruitment.
  • CIPD qualification, or equivalent professional recruitment training.
  • Experience of setting up or developing an in-house recruitment function.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, with strong negotiation and influencing ability.
  • Strong stakeholder management, able to build credibility with site teams and senior managers.
  • Discreet, trustworthy and accurate in record keeping and reporting.
  • Able to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced, driven environment.
