WHS Construction Manager

At Amazon, safety is our top priority. We are looking for a WHS Construction Manager to drive health and safety across our construction projects. In this role you ensure our construction sites and vendors meet Amazon's safety standards and local regulations, partnering with contractors and project teams to embed safe working from design through delivery. You'll be the safety point of contact for construction activity in your area, keeping the people who build our sites safe.

Key job responsibilities

  • Ensure construction projects and vendors comply with Amazon safety standards and local construction regulations.
  • Conduct construction site safety inspections and review vendor safety documentation.
  • Partner with project teams and contractors to embed safe working from design through delivery.
  • Track construction safety performance and drive closure of identified gaps.
  • Support the wider WHS team in maintaining construction safety standards across projects.

A day in the life

You spend your time between construction sites and project teams, checking that contractors are working safely and in line with Amazon standards and local construction regulations. You carry out site inspections, review vendor safety documentation, and coach project and contractor teams on safe practices. You track safety performance across your projects, flag risks early, and work with vendors to close gaps. One day you're on a live construction site, the next you're reviewing safety plans for an upcoming build.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
