About the Role

Help deliver one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects while shaping a world-class safety culture.

We're looking for an experienced Construction HSE Advisor to support the delivery of Eastern Green Link 3 (EGL 3), a nationally important electricity transmission project that will help strengthen the UK's energy network and support the transition to a cleaner energy future.

This is an opportunity to work at the heart of a major infrastructure programme, influencing how safety, health and environmental performance is delivered across complex construction activities. You'll work closely with operational teams, contractors and Joint Venture partners, providing expert guidance and helping create an environment where everyone goes home safe every day.

This role offers hybrid working, with approximately two days per week based at our Walpole, Norfolk site, alongside regular travel across the Lincolnshire region.

What you'll do

  • Support the delivery of Strategic Infrastructure's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) strategy across projects and Joint Venture (JV) partners.
  • Lead and support onsite HSE tours, inspections and assurance activities with JV and contractor partners.
  • Provide expert CDM advice to project teams and JV partners, ensuring effective interface management and statutory compliance.
  • Promote HSE best practice and drive continuous improvement initiatives alongside contractor HSE teams.
  • Contribute HSE expertise throughout the tender and contract award process.
  • Support the investigation of accidents and incidents, identifying root causes, advising on legal requirements and sharing lessons learned.
  • Coach, influence and engage employees, managers, contractors and JV partners to strengthen HSE performance, risk management and a positive safety culture.

What you'll bring

  • Experience in a construction health, safety and environment role, with strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and behavioural safety programmes.
  • A proven track record of acting as a trusted HSE advisor, with excellent working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM).
  • Experience managing contractor interfaces, collaborating with duty holders and ensuring compliance across complex construction environments.
  • Demonstrable success developing and implementing site-based assurance programmes and driving continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
  • Strong auditing, incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coach, influence and motivate teams at all levels.
  • Experience identifying risks, recommending preventative actions and leading the implementation of new safety initiatives.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate, NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or equivalent Health and Safety Management for Construction qualification.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site locations as required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
