Construction Site Manager - EV Charging - Charge Point Operator - North England - Hybrid - £50,000-£60,000 + Car + Bonus

Job title: Construction Manager (North of England)

Location: North of England based. Regular travel to sites across the North (2 to 3 days per week) & in frequent travel to London HQ for team meetings

Contract type: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: £50,000 to £55,000, plus discretionary annual bonus

Car: EV company car, or car allowance of £500 per month

Key stakeholders: Head of Dept, ICP and Contractor supply chain, project coordination and construction delivery colleagues (South)

About Our Client

Our client is a large UK-wide rapid charging network for electric vehicles (EVs). They fund, install, and manage their network in partnership.

They're looking for a Construction Manager to lead the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of EV charging site builds across the North of England, overseeing all on-site construction activity and managing contractors and Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to their technical, safety, and quality standards.

Role Overview

The Construction Manager is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of our client's EV charging sites across the North of England, from development through to site opening. The successful candidate will manage sites end to end, keeping projects running to time and to brief, and will have the authority to stop a site opening if it isn't up to standard. This is a hands-on role: the candidate will be out driving to sites regularly, working directly with contractors and ICPs, and owning the practical detail of getting things done on the ground.

The role is supported by a project coordinator and a construction delivery colleague, who focus primarily on sites in the South, so this position gives real ownership of the North of England portfolio.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery: Lead the construction phase of ultra-rapid EV charging sites from mobilisation through to handover, managing sites from development through to opening.
  • Programme & Brief Compliance: Keep projects running to time and in line with the brief, managing changes so they're actioned promptly, and holding back any site from opening that doesn't meet standards.
  • Project Design Development: Support the development team using skills, knowledge, and experience to review and advise on the buildability and constructability of new sites.
  • Contractor & ICP Management: Manage and coordinate contractors, ICPs, and suppliers across the North to ensure effective site execution and compliance with scope and specifications.
  • Health, Safety & Environment: Ensure all works are delivered to the highest HSE standards, maintaining compliance with CDM Regulations and company policy.
  • Programme & Budget Control: Monitor progress, costs, and resource allocation, proactively addressing issues to protect delivery targets.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee construction quality, ensuring works meet design intent, standards, and client expectations.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with development, grid, and design teams to ensure smooth project transitions and timely site delivery.
  • Reporting: Provide clear and accurate updates on site progress against programme, risks, budget, and performance metrics.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience delivering multi-site construction projects, ideally in EV infrastructure, utilities, or renewable energy.
  • ICP management experience is desirable.
  • Ultra-rapid DC EV charging experience is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction HSE requirements and CDM Regulations.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills with a focus on delivery and accountability.
  • Ability to manage multiple sites and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites regularly (2 to 3 days per week).
  • Effective communicator, able to build positive relationships with internal teams, external contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborative and solution-oriented, able to anticipate challenges and drive practical resolutions.
  • Calm and decisive under pressure, with a proactive approach to safety, quality, and problem-solving.
  • Open on overall years of experience. The client is more interested in the right skills and approach than a specific number of years.
