Site Manager – Civil Engineering & Groundworks

Byrne Civil Solutions Ltd is a Manchester-based civil engineering and groundworks contractor delivering a range of projects across the region. We pride ourselves on maintaining high standards of health & safety, quality, professionalism and client satisfaction.
We are currently looking for an experienced Site Manager to join our team. This is an important role within the business, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of our construction sites and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.
The Role
As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the daily operation of the site, working closely with our Contracts Manager, site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and overseeing all day-to-day site activities.
- Promoting and maintaining a strong health & safety culture across the site.
- Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with approved RAMS, drawings, specifications and company procedures.
- Coordinating directly employed operatives and subcontractors.
- Planning and coordinating labour, plant, materials and other site resources.
- Monitoring progress against the agreed programme and identifying potential delays or issues.
- Carrying out site inductions, toolbox talks and daily briefings where required.
- Ensuring plant, equipment and materials are managed safely and efficiently.
- Maintaining good housekeeping and high standards of site presentation.
- Completing and maintaining relevant site records, inspections and documentation.
- Monitoring workmanship and ensuring the required quality standards are achieved.
- Working closely and professionally with clients, principal contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.
- Identifying site issues early and working with the wider management team to provide practical solutions.
- Helping to create a safe, organised and productive working environment for everyone on site.

About You
We are looking for a time-served and experienced Site Manager with a strong background in civil engineering and groundworks.
The successful candidate should have:
- Previous Site Management or Site Supervisory experience within civil engineering, groundworks or infrastructure projects.
- Good practical knowledge and understanding of site operations.
- Strong understanding of construction health & safety requirements.
- The ability to plan and coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- A professional approach when dealing with clients and site teams.
- The ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- A quality-focused approach with attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently while remaining part of the wider Byrne Civil Solutions team.

Relevant qualifications such as SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid would be expected, with additional construction-related qualifications and experience being advantageous.
