Create a better future, quicker!

At SP Energy Networks, we're investing billions to transform the electricity network that powers homes, businesses and communities across the UK. Within our Transmission business, a £12 billion investment programme is driving some of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects in our history, helping connect renewable energy, strengthen network resilience and support the transition to a cleaner, greener future.

From new substations and transmission network reinforcements to major capital delivery programmes across Scotland, our teams are building the infrastructure needed to meet growing energy demands and enable Net Zero ambitions.

To help deliver this unprecedented programme of work, we're investing in the next generation of construction leaders. We're looking for a passionate and experienced Construction Training Lead to develop future Site Managers, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge and confidence to safely lead complex infrastructure projects across our network.

This is a unique opportunity to combine your construction expertise with your passion for developing people, playing a key role in shaping the workforce that will deliver Scotland's energy future.

What You'll Be Doing

As Construction Training Lead, you'll take ownership of our Trainee Site Manager Development Programme, creating meaningful learning experiences that blend formal training, mentoring and hands-on site exposure.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating the delivery of the Trainee Site Manager Development Programme.
  • Creating and managing individual development plans, incorporating site placements, coaching, technical learning and professional qualifications.
  • Working closely with Construction Managers and project teams to provide varied learning experiences across major transmission projects, substations, overhead lines and cable schemes.
  • Coordinating mentors, coaches and placement managers to ensure trainees receive regular feedback and structured development opportunities.
  • Building strong relationships with professional bodies, learning providers and internal stakeholders to support recognised qualifications and industry best practice.
  • Monitoring trainee progress and programme milestones, providing support and interventions where required.
  • Visiting construction sites across Scotland to observe trainees, assess development and gather feedback.
  • Translating technical standards, lessons learned and business procedures into engaging, practical learning content.
  • Coordinating onboarding, core training and development activities to address capability gaps.
  • Maintaining programme records and reporting on progress, risks, completions and future workforce needs.
  • Continuously enhancing the programme to ensure it remains aligned to business requirements and future industry demands.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
