Consultant in Anaesthetics

The post holder will complement and develop existing services through the provision of specialist knowledge & expertise in Anaesthetics primarily based at Fairfield General Hospital.

About the Hospital

Fairfield Hospital is situated in Bury, close to the M66 and M60 motorways on the outskirts of Greater Manchester, 14 miles north of Manchester city centre.

The hospital has excellent elective orthopaedic services, including high-risk elective orthopaedics, and it is a major hub for elective orthopaedic surgery. We also have elective and emergency ENT services for the northern sector of the Northern Care Alliance (Fairfield General Hospital, Royal Oldham Hospital, and Rochdale Infirmary). This includes complex airway cases. Anaesthetic services are also provided for 23-hour/day case general surgery, gynaecology, community dental and cardiology. There are 8 theatres at FGH, and 6 theatres are high airflow suitable for prosthetic joint surgery. Along with Rochdale Infirmary, Fairfield is one of the NCA’s two elective hubs.

Requirements

You will be required to have full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid licence to practice and be on the specialist register for Anaesthesia, or be within 6 months of CCT or equivalent at the time of interview.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
