I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the Trust

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust works in partnership with other healthcare providers to deliver high quality healthcare services across the county. The Trust has close links to medical specialist services in the Southwest Peninsula and beyond. Serving a widespread local population, as well as thousands of visitors to Cornwall each year, poses a number of unique healthcare challenges. The Trust provides acute medical and surgical services to a population of around 430,000, which more than doubles during the busy holiday periods, from our three hospitals: The Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro, West Cornwall Hospital, Penzance and St Michaels in Hayle. Outpatient and other services are also provided at a large number of community-based NHS locations around the county and a number of corporate support services are located away from the main hospital sites.

A new imaging and oncology centre, including two new MRI scanners with space for a third, opened in 2023. The Trust is also planning a new Women and Children's Hospital.

There are Community Diagnostic Centres run by the Trust in Bodmin and Penzance.
