MYN Client are actively seeking 3 additional Consultant Cellular Pathologists to support the growth and evolution of our diagnostic services.

We are particularly keen to attract Consultants with a specialist interest in:

  • Breast Pathology, including experience of breast screening services
  • Skin/Dermatopathology
  • Broad general histopathology expertise and a commitment to high-quality diagnostic services

Key Details

  • Contract: Permanent - 3 x WTE (Full-time or Part-time opportunities available)
  • Salary: £109,725 - £145,478 Based on experience
  • Sessions: 10 PA's per vacant post (with flexibility to discuss working patterns)

The Department

This Histopathology Department is fully UKAS accredited and serves a diverse population. Employer provide a comprehensive histopathology and non-gynaecological cytopathology service, reporting a broad range of surgical pathology specimens and contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings, governance, audit, and education.

Current team structure:

  • Substantive Consultants (expanding from 3 to 6)
  • Specialist Registrars
  • Strong Biomedical Scientist support
  • Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Specialist Nurses

The department is supported by an excellent wider multidisciplinary team of surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, and other specialists, ensuring comprehensive patient care.

Education & Qualifications (Essential)

  • Hold full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
  • Hold FRCPath or an equivalent qualification
  • Be on the Specialist Register in Cellular Pathology / Histopathology via one of the following:
    • Certificate of Training (CCT) – or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
    • Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
    • European Community Rights

Experience, Knowledge & Training

  • Broad experience in histopathology and diagnostic cytopathology appropriate to a DGH service
  • Appropriate training in Histopathology and diagnostic cytology (including reporting fine needle aspirates)
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
  • Experience in audit management and conducting clinical audit
  • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems
  • An awareness of current speciality-specific developments and initiatives

Desirable Criteria

  • Management training and/or experience
  • Lead for Breast Pathology and experience in screening programme
  • Publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals in the last 5 years
  • Evidence of having undertaken original research

  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to new challenges
  • Ability to work in a team with an enquiring, critical approach to work
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, GPs, nurses, and other agencies
  • Commitment to Continuing Medical Education
  • Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional, and national level
