Role Overview
We are currently looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to support a private healthcare provider delivering ADHD assessments for children and young people.
The role involves carrying out consultant-led assessments following an initial assessment process completed by the clinical team. The successful psychiatrist will review the information provided in advance, meet with the patient and family, clarify the clinical history and presentation, and provide the consultant opinion required to complete the assessment and report.
There is an immediate requirement for additional consultant capacity, with the potential for ongoing work.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake ADHD assessments for children and young people.
- Review the patient's clinical history and assessment information prior to the appointment.
- Review the completed DIVA assessment and other relevant information supplied by the clinical team.
- Conduct a consultant-led clinical consultation with the patient and/or family.
- Clarify relevant clinical history, symptoms and presentation.
- Use clinical judgement to reach an appropriate diagnostic opinion.
- Complete or contribute to the required clinical report.
- Work collaboratively with the wider clinical team.
- Use the provider's own clinical platform for assessments and documentation.
- The provider has advised that the majority of the report-writing process is already completed using Heidi, with the psychiatrist primarily required to review, clarify and finalise the clinical information and outcome.

Assessment Format
The provider traditionally conducts:
- 4 child assessments on a Monday
- 4 child assessments on a Saturday
- Approximately 8 assessments per week in total
Each assessment is expected to require approximately 60–90 minutes with the patient, depending on the individual case.
The role can be delivered face-to-face and occasional remote, subject to the psychiatrist's location, availability and the provider's requirements.
Commitment
The initial requirement is for a psychiatrist who can provide regular availability, potentially around 1–2 days every three weeks.
There is also an opportunity for a consultant who can commit to a full day of assessments, which would be particularly useful to the provider.
The immediate requirement is for additional capacity, with the potential for an ongoing arrangement for the right clinician.
Location
For face-to-face work, the assessments are undertaken at the provider's clinic in Cheshire.
Remote assessments may also be considered where appropriate.
Rate
The agreed rate is:
- £300 per completed child assessment
Based on four assessments in a full day, this represents £1,200 per day.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate should:
- Be a fully qualified Consultant Psychiatrist with appropriate experience working with children and young people.
- Have relevant experience in ADHD assessment and diagnosis.
- Be appropriately registered and compliant to undertake the work in the UK.
- Be comfortable conducting consultant-led assessments independently.
- Be able to review clinical information and previous assessment material efficiently.
- Have excellent clinical documentation and communication skills.
- Be comfortable working face-to-face, depending on the agreed arrangement.
- Be available to discuss the provider's assessment process before commencing.

Interview / Onboarding
Before commencing the role, the provider would like to speak with the consultant to explain:
- Their assessment pathway
- How the DIVA assessment is completed
- The information provided to the psychiatrist before the consultation
- The expected structure of the consultant appointment
- How reports are completed
- The systems and platform used
- The overall clinical process and expectations
This discussion will also allow both parties to confirm that the role and assessment model are a suitable fit.
Immediate Requirement
There are currently multiple child assessments requiring consultant input, rather than a single appointment.
The provider is therefore looking to establish an ongoing relationship with a consultant who can offer regular availability.
