Overview Of The Role
This role will support the growth of Mott MacDonald’s circular economy consultancy offer, helping clients translate circular economy principles into practical strategies, design decisions and delivery approaches. The successful candidate will join a developing cross-unit team within Mott MacDonald’s advisory business (within the Sustainability function in Strategic Advisory/Climate, Sustainability & Social team), with the opportunity to contribute to service development, project delivery and long-term market positioning.
The role builds on the work of a cross-unit circular economy team that has been active for the past three years. The team combines strategic and operational responsibilities, supporting project work while developing Mott MacDonald’s wider consultancy offer. You will help progress live opportunities, strengthen internal collaboration and work with colleagues to identify relevant markets, clients and project applications for circular economy thinking.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
