Exciting Opportunity: Leadership Role in Community Learning Disabilities Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the leadership team of our community learning disabilities service, covering the current post holder's maternity leave for 1 year. The Consultant Clinical Psychologist will work alongside the operational and professional leads to support service development. The role includes leadership & governance responsibilities for psychological practitioners in the community learning disabilities service, ensuring safe, effective practice & staff development.

The successful candidate will have experience working with people with complex learning disabilities & mental health needs, including behaviours that challenge, using evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches to reduce distress & promote wellbeing and social inclusion.

Job Purpose

To act independently and use own initiative within appropriate operational guidelines and service protocols; deciding where necessary to refer to the Service Manager.

  • To act independently and use own initiative within appropriate occupational and clinical guidelines; deciding where necessary to refer to the CPPO.
  • Provide specialist evidence-based psychological therapy, making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, consultation and advice on psychological therapies and psychological elements of care.
  • Provide clinical leadership, lead service/policy review and development, specialist teaching and advice on psychological therapy for a designated service area.
  • Take lead responsibility for the development and implementation of NICE compliant psychological therapies within a designated service area.
  • To ensure the clinical effectiveness of own practice and of service functioning by leading research and development activities relevant to the service area.
  • Provide specialist advice to the Service Manager on service development.
