About our Commercial Practice

Prescient has four core practices: Commercial, Competitive Strategy, Medical and Value, Pricing and Access. We specialise in supporting our biopharma clients in making insightful strategic choices for their products and portfolios. We bring together a unique blend of skills and experiences which are required to drive winning strategies. The Commercial Practice is on an exciting journey to expand our customer-centric team in the US market to better serve our US-based global and domestic clients. When you join this exciting venture, you will be working with global healthcare and pharmaceutical clients across the full product life cycle, to help them unlock the full potential of their brands.

The Commercial Practice specialises in the following project types: Brand strategy; brand positioning, value proposition and brand story development; disease area and portfolio strategy; life cycle management planning; new product planning; launch excellence; competitor strategy; workshop facilitation; and strategic customer research.

About the opportunity

As a Consultant, you will be integrally involved in high-quality, insight-led strategy projects for global biopharma clients, working closely as the key support to more senior members of the project team. You will become increasingly responsible for taking ownership for specific tasks within a project, but with support and oversight from more experienced colleagues when you need it.

Depending on the type of project, you could be involved in designing, conducting, analysing, and presenting primary customer research; analysis of secondary desk research and internal client documents, supporting the design and organisation of client workshops and the development of high quality, engaging client outputs and providing project management assistance to the project leader.

Key responsibilities

Strategic Project Delivery

  • Support delivery of commercial strategy projects across the product life cycle, under the direction of senior team members
  • Conduct literature searches and critically review, extract and summarise relevant evidence
  • Help translate research and evidence into clear insights, with guidance from senior colleagues
  • Support landscape assessments, analogue research and policy analysis to inform client strategy
  • Build up internal knowledge of the relevant areas of commercial strategy and trends worldwide
  • Contribute to the preparation of client deliverables, reports and presentations
  • Support logistical and planning tasks, including helping to coordinate stakeholder interviews and arrange meetings with external stakeholders
  • Help manage own tasks and timelines to support delivery against client expectations
  • Collaborate effectively with project teams across multiple workstreams

Client Engagement

  • Support day-to-day communication with clients, as directed by senior team members
  • Begin to build working relationships with client stakeholders
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, insight-driven outputs
  • Participate in client meetings, workshops and presentations

Business Development Support

  • Support development of project proposals and pitch materials
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing initiatives

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with colleagues across Medical, Values, Pricing and Access, and Competitive Strategy practices
  • Contribute to integrated, cross-functional client solutions
  • Collaborate with senior team members to support strategic recommendations

Professional Development

  • Actively engage in training and professional development opportunities
  • Contribute to team culture, collaboration and effective communication

Essential skills and experience

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or advanced degree – this should include life sciences, possibly with business/marketing component
  • Previous experience in consulting, strategic customer research or brand strategy is required
  • Experience researching complex information and summarising findings into slides or reports, whether through academic study or work experience (essential)
  • Basic understanding of, or strong interest in learning about:
    • Drug development and commercialisation, including the launch process
    • Drug marketing strategy, including brand planning at a regional and global level
    • Exposure to or interest in oncology, rare diseases or speciality therapeutics (desirable)
  • Strong analytical and research skills with an ability to read, understand and summarise complex information
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage timelines and meet deadlines, with support from senior colleagues
  • Ability to multitask and collaborate effectively in fast-paced, team-oriented environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

Education: BA/BS required this should include life sciences, possibly with a business/marketing component; postgraduate qualification in a health-related field or life sciences is a plus, but not required
