At Tetra Tech, you’ll help shape technically robust, sustainable solutions to some of the UK’s most complex civil engineering and environmental challenges. Working across high-profile, multi-disciplinary projects, you’ll bring technical clarity, confidence, and leadership to schemes that make a lasting difference for our communities and the environment.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

As a Consultant Engineer, you will play a key role in the technical development and delivery of civil engineering and flood risk management projects across government agency, water company, local authority, and private sector portfolios.

You will provide high-quality engineering input across all stages of the project lifecycle, from inception and strategic optioneering through to outline and detailed design. You will help shape technically sound, practical, and deliverable solutions, while supporting project teams to maintain momentum, quality, and alignment with client objectives.

The role will involve taking ownership of defined workstreams, contributing to technical governance, guiding multidisciplinary coordination, and helping ensure that risks, assumptions, interfaces, and opportunities are clearly understood and managed. You will also support client engagement, technical approvals, and the development of trusted, collaborative working relationships.

Your Impact in this position

You will help turn complex technical and environmental challenges into well-informed, balanced, and deliverable outcomes. Your expertise will strengthen decision-making, improve design quality, and support the delivery of solutions that are resilient, efficient, and buildable.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
