Consultant/Health Economist - Evidence Synthesis. UK/Ireland/Spain/Portugal

ICON Health Economics & Epidemiology is currently seeking to appoint a Consultant in Systematic Reviews/Evidence Synthesis to join its global team. This team is highly respected in the field of health economics, and epidemiology for quality and innovation, undertaking consultancy projects for international clients in both the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.

The candidate recruited for this role will be expected to utilise their skills in systematic reviews and/or evidence synthesis to contribute to all aspects of the department’s work as well as supporting the development of the team globally.

What you will do/What you will need

As a Consultant, the employee is expected to:

  • Recognize the importance of, and create a culture of process improvement with a focus on streamlining our processes, adding value to our business and meeting client needs.
  • Lead, manage and quality check high quality delivery of evidence synthesis and analytical tasks and projects for clients to time and budget including (but not limited to): indirect treatment comparison, network meta-analysis, survival/statistical analyses.
  • Provide strategic and technical expertise both to clients and internally, and demonstrate experience across state-of-the-art methods in evidence synthesis including deterministic and Bayesian network meta analyses.
  • Proficiency in statistical packages for evidence synthesis including WinBugs/OpenBugs, R.
  • Understands the role of evidence synthesis within the HTA processes and support preparation HTA submissions.
  • Develops study designs and analytic plans to answer research questions.
  • Leads development of qualitative and/or qualitative analysis plans for evidence synthesis including network meta-analysis, literature review, statistical analysis and, generates report fit for client submission.
  • Leads development of deliverable document outline and format.
  • Supports other project activities as needed, completes internal documentation and quality-checks the work of others.
  • Analyzes research problem and conceptually pieces individual scientific tasks together to determine how the overall scientific goal will be achieved.
  • Develops a comprehensive set of sound recommendations on scientific methods and approaches that help clients meet their goals as well as identify those that will not help clients meet their goals.
  • Proactively and independently expands knowledge base and remains current on developments, trends and best practices for subject matter expertise.
  • Efficiently manages own workload with respect to project scope, timelines and quality.
  • Manages and ensures maintenance of a positive and productive liaison with internal and external contacts, including regulatory agencies, clients, and related institutions.
  • Conceptualizes and drafts, or leads, a complete proposal based on a client idea or RFP.
  • Responsible for teams’ alignment and support of BD efforts, including leading some smaller BD opportunities.
  • Modifies proposals in response to client requests for changes and scientific insight for client’s strategic needs.
  • Leads project teams and identifies staff resources required for efficiency, presents the scope of work, and executes the scope by providing direction and feedback to that team.
  • Manages projects against internal timelines and budgets.
  • Active lead in mentoring/coaching junior staff, and may have formal line management.
  • Complies with all relevant SOPs, work programming, time-keeping, iLearns, policies and procedures.
