Dorset Healthcare is offering an exciting opportunity for a CAMHS Consultant to join our Weymouth and Portland team on a part-time basis.
About the Role
As the CAMHS Consultant, you will provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team, alongside a Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Service Manager, and a Team Leader. The clinical aspects of the post arise from an overall role to lead the team in the provision of effective assessment and treatment services for patients aged up to 18 years. The role includes a focus on supporting improvements in the process of transition to the adult mental health services as and when appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team
- Lead the team in the provision of effective assessment and treatment services
- Support improvements in the process of transition to adult mental health services
Daily Activities
- Daily team huddle (handover and wellbeing online meeting)
- Weekly MDT meetings
- Regular business and senior management team meetings
Service Delivery
- Work within the Weymouth core CAMHS team
- Provide comprehensive community-based services to young people up to the age of 18 registered with general practitioners
Additional Opportunities
- Engage in activities supporting both direct clinical contact and service delivery, such as policy development, quality improvement initiatives, teaching, appraising colleagues, line management, or other nominated roles.
- Maintain Section 12 (2) and be an Approved Clinician.
- Work with colleagues in Weymouth & Portland and West Dorset core CAMHS to cover emergency work and to keep waiting lists within the Trust agreed limits.

- Join the weekly on-call rota which is Dorset wide and attracts a 3% on-call availability supplement plus 0.75 APA per week. This is a joint general adult, learning disability, child psychiatry, and older adult psychiatry on-call rota supported by specialist registrars and associate specialists.
