Consultant Gastroenterologist
Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Gastroenterologist to join the Digestive Diseases Centre (DDC), working across Queen's Hospital and King George Hospital.
The successful candidate will contribute to comprehensive Gastroenterology services including inpatient care, outpatient clinics, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, emergency Gastroenterology and multidisciplinary working. The post includes participation in the Gastroenterology on-call rota and cross-site working according to service requirements.
The successful candidate will have broad experience in Gastroenterology and appropriate competence in upper and lower GI endoscopy. They will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team and contribute to teaching, clinical supervision, governance, audit, quality improvement and service development.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated consultant who will contribute to safe, efficient and sustainable Gastroenterology services and support continued improvement in patient access, diagnostic and elective recovery, cancer pathways and patient flow.

Requirements:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- Appropriate specialist registration/eligibility for substantive Consultant Gastroenterologist appointment
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the Trust's Emergency Gastroenterology Service, delivering consultant-led assessment, diagnosis and management of patients presenting with acute gastrointestinal disease.
- Provide timely senior clinical decision-making to support safe admission avoidance where appropriate, facilitate early discharge and ensure prompt access to specialist investigation and intervention.
